+ WHAT MAKES ST. LUKE ORTHODOX MISSION CHURCH DIFFERENT?
Our mission is to connect people of all backgrounds with authentic Orthodox Christian worship, teaching and preaching, in the English language, in order to connect people together in genuine Christian love and compassion.
+ WHEN ARE YOUR SERVICES?
Services are held weekly on Sunday mornings and begin with Morning Prayer at 9:00 AM, followed by Divine Liturgy at 9:30 AM.
+ WHERE ARE YOUR SERVICES CONDUCTED?
We currently host our Sunday Services in the sactuary of Our Lady of Fatima Roman Catholic Church in Bensalem, PA.
+ WHAT IF I DON'T NORMALLY GO TO CHURCH?
That's not a problem! We seek to create a welcoming community for those who are curious about Christianity.
+ WHAT IF I'M NOT ORTHODOX?
Wherever you are coming from and whatever your background is, you are welcome here!
+ WHAT LANGUAGE IS USED DURING SERVICES?
We conduct our services in the English language.
+ HOW LONG ARE THE SERVICES?
On Saturday evenings, the Evening service (Vespers & Compline) is generally 30–45 minutes in length, followed an English homily. On Sunday mornings, a similar Morning service is celebrated before the Divine Liturgy. Afterwards, the Divine Liturgy is approximately 3 hours in length with an English homily at approximately 9:45 a.m. and the Distribution of the Mystery of the Eucharist from 10:45–11:45 a.m. We understand this may seem like a very long service, but we know that when you have participated in an Orthodox service you will feel like you have truly worshipped the living God.
+ AN NON-ORTHODOX RECEIVE THE HOLY EUCHARIST?
Orthodox priests may only serve the Holy Eucharist to baptized members in good standing of the canonical Orthodox Church, who have recently confessed, and fasted before partaking of the Holy Eucharist. This is the ancient tradition of the Holy Church for the 2,000 years of its history. The Orthodox Church understands the Holy Eucharist as a mystery of the real presence of Christ in the Eucharist, not simply as a memorial, or merely in a spiritual sense, as many other non-Orthodox Christians do.
+ WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?
There is no dress code at Saint Luke's. Some guests wear formal clothing while others dress more casually so just wear whatever makes you comfortable. We simply request you to be mindful that this is a House of God.
+ WHAT ABOUT KIDS?
We believe children should be part of and participate in the Divine Liturgy. Our children are taught more about the Orthodox Faith and their Liturgical experience during Children's Ministry which is held after Liturgy.
+ ARE YOU ASSOCIATED WITH ANY OTHER CHURCHES?
Saint Luke Orthodox Mission Church is part of the Northeast American Diocese of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church.
+ CAN I INVITE MY FRIENDS?
We would love for you to invite your friends! We do our best to provide a warm and welcoming environment for people who are curious about the truth of who God is.
